Patrons and Ambassadors

Patron: Tim Healy

Tim Healy has been a patron of Children North East for over 30 years. The much-loved Geordie actor grew up in the West End of Newcastle where our charity Head Office is based. Tim says: "Children North East has been supporting youngsters and their families since 1891 and, though it’s sad we’re still needed today, the main thing is we are still here for families. I'm so proud to be patron of this wonderful charity, care in the community from babies to Grandma and Grandads.”

Ambassador: Denise Welch

Denise, the actress and Loose Women star, has been a supporter of Children North East for many years. Most recently she has been campaigning with the charity through her 'Hope Not Hunger' campaign, calling for a national strategy to tackle child poverty in the UK. Denise says: "We want to do whatever we can to alleviate poverty in the kind of communities I grew up in. There are children going to school without food in their tummies, families relying almost solely on food banks and baby banks. This has got to stop.”

Youth Ambassador: James Huntley

Under 21s NUFC star James Huntley joined Children North East as a Youth Ambassador in 2023. The partnership is important to the charity as it seeks to work with young voices. James says: “I’m excited to be teaming up with Children North East and learning more about the young people they work with. Growing up can be hard and I am pleased to be able to support the great work of the charity in this way. Football, and sport in general, is something which unites people whatever their background and so I hope we can use that to make a positive impact... as long as they don’t put me in goal.”
