Children North East, Resolve Poverty and the Welsh Government are partnering to deliver a three-year programme designed to reduce the cost of the school day and lessen the impact of poverty on learners across Wales.
Mae Children North East, Resolve Poverty a Llywodraeth Cymru yn gweithio mewn partneriaeth i gyflwyno rhaglen tair blynedd sydd wedi’i chynllunio i leihau cost y diwrnod ysgol a lliniaru effeithiau tlodi ar ddysgwyr ledled Cymru.
The programme will help schools, settings, governing bodies and education staff identify the barriers to attendance, engagement and attainment that arise from economic circumstances. It will provide evidence-based support, professional learning and guidance to help achieve equity in provision.
Bydd y rhaglen yn helpu ysgolion, lleoliadau, cyrff llywodraethu a staff addysg i nodi’r rhwystrau o ran presenoldeb, ymgysylltu a chyrhaeddiad sy’n deillio o amgylchiadau economaidd. Bydd yn darparu cymorth sy’n seiliedig ar dystiolaeth, dysgu proffesiynol ac arweiniad i helpu i gyflawni tegwch yn y ddarpariaeth.
A key focus will be contributing to a national conversation about poverty and its impact on learners, using learner voice to challenge stigma and unconscious bias. The programme will also support schools in removing barriers linked to the poverty related attainment gap and develop a consistent bank of resources and guidance to promote non‑stigmatising practice across the Welsh education system.
Bydd pwyslais allweddol ar gyfrannu at sgwrs genedlaethol am dlodi a’i effaith ar ddysgwyr, gan ddefnyddio llais y dysgwr i herio stigma a rhagfarn ddiarwybod. Bydd y rhaglen hefyd yn cefnogi ysgolion i waredu rhwystrau sy’n gysylltiedig â’r bwlch cyrhaeddiad sy’n gysylltiedig â thlodi ac yn datblygu casgliad cyson o adnoddau a chanllawiau i hyrwyddo arferion nad ydynt yn creu stigma ar draws system addysg Cymru.
Alongside this, it will strengthen local authority initiatives aimed at tackling the impact of poverty on education and help coordinate national efforts. It will also contribute to the development of professional learning for the teaching workforce – from initial teacher education through to NPQH candidates – ensuring that issues of equity and poverty are embedded throughout the system.
Ochr yn ochr â hyn, bydd yn cryfhau mentrau awdurdodau lleol sy’n anelu at fynd i’r afael ag effaith tlodi ar addysg ac yn helpu i gydlynu ymdrechion cenedlaethol. Bydd hefyd yn cyfrannu at ddatblygu dysgu proffesiynol i’r gweithlu addysgu – o addysg gychwynnol athrawon i ymgeiswyr CPCP – gan sicrhau bod materion tegwch a thlodi wedi’u hymgorffori ledled y system.
This role is Wales-based, with regular travel throughout Waled and occasional travel to the North East of England. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing this project, with support from our existing Poverty Proofing Coordinators and the Poverty Proofing the School Day Team manager, based in North East England and the West Midlands.
