It’s back for 2025. Come join us at King Edward’s Bay and take the plunge into the chilly North Sea and make a splash for a great cause!

We’re inviting as many people as possible to come and join Team Gleeds and take on a fundraising dip with a difference. Whether you’re a seasoned dipper or just looking to dare your director, there’s something for everyone at the Gleeds Dip and Sip.

Here’s what’s in store on event day:

  • A fun, Mr. Motivator-style warm-up to get you ready for the plunge!
  • You can even embrace the festive spirit with optional fancy dress for an extra fun.
  • Post-dip celebratory bubbles and hot drinks to warm up.
  • Treat yourself to a rejuvenating sauna by the bay with Steam and Salt after your icy swim.

By joining their team, Gleeds ask you to join their fundraising efforts with a suggested goal of £50. They’ve chosen to support babies, children and young people across the North East this festive time and join forces with Children North East as charity partners. This is the reason they’re taking it back to Children North East’s coastal routes…

FAQs

How do I take part?

To take part, you simply need to set up a JustGiving page for your challenge to share and receive sponsorship (and to shout about what an amazing thing your doing!!).

Setting up your JustGiving page is super simple. Follow the link above, and click ‘Fundraise for us’ which will automatically fill in a picture and story for you to tweak the way you would like it. If you’re stuck please feel free to reach out to our team for support! You can get in touch with us at [email protected]

How do I track my walked distance?

Many of us have devices in our homes that can do the tracking for us, including our phones. work out one which suits you and keep it on you to keep up your tracking. If you’re only able to record steps, the walk is 234,000 steps! Pedometers are available for a few pounds from shops, including Amazon, if you do not have anything suitable already.

I would prefer to collect the money myself, is that OK?

Of course! Just let our team know you are taking part by contacting [email protected] and we can send you any useful sponsorship documents you might need, as well as adding you to the Challenge mailing list.

Can Under 18s take part?

Absolutely! We think it is very special when young people fundraise in support of other young lives. The only change would be that an adult would need to set up and manage their JustGiving page, due to age requirements on the site.

100 Miles is too much of a challenge for me, can I still take part?

Some adults or younger children you may need to adjust the length of the challenge to an appropriate length for their abilities or lifestyle. We understand this and you can definitely still be part of the Walk the North East experience! Simply pick a number that feels like the right challenge for you.

How do I get my t-shirt?

The team will be in touch when you hit the £150 target to get the size you need and the address to send it to. If you are collecting sponsorship yourself, just let us know when you hit that special milestone.

When I can I start the challenge?

Whenever works best for you. You could do it over a month, 6 weeks, or 6 months if you wanted too. Adjust the timeline to fit with your life, that’s fine by us. We are just grateful to have you as part of our community.

Do I need to provide evidence of my miles?

No, we trust you!
