Volunteer

Volunteers play a valuable role in Children North East, helping us achieve life changing outcomes for more babies, children, young people and their families. Over the last year, 159 amazing volunteers supported our work. We also provided 16 placements for students, one of whom gained employment with us.

If you are interested in volunteering at Children North East but can’t find something that interests you, then please get in touch using our contact us form, as there may be other opportunities available.

Student Counselling Placements

The Young People’s Counselling Service has placed its student placement and volunteer recruitment process on hold due to the current pandemic situation. We are not able to offer our usual programme of training or provide the same level of support for new students while most of the counsellors continue to work from home. We hope to be opening this process from January 2021.

All new persons coming into our team will now need to complete training to work online as well as face to face so please consider this when applying. You may wish to complete BACP training to work with young people in this way before you apply. Please also consider how you would meet the needs of the placement if you were asked to work from home initially.

We recruit students and volunteers in a group cohort so you will be asked to complete an application and interview. A timetable for applications will be added soon. Please email rhoda.morrow@children-ne.org.uk directly for more information about our processes.
