This summer, our Communities Team is putting together a fantastic programme of activities to help families make the most of the six‑week school break. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to get involved, this could be a great opportunity for your team.

Annual Beach Day: Wednesday 29th July

We’re planning a brilliant summer day out at Seaburn Beach for around 100 local children and their families, and we’re inviting corporate teams to get involved as part of a meaningful CSR opportunity.

Teams will play a hands-on role by running fun, inclusive activities like sandcastle competitions, beach games, or creative play, using simple equipment such as buckets, spades, and balls. It’s a relaxed, joyful environment where you can connect with the community and see the difference you make.

Alongside volunteering, we ask organisations to make a small financial contribution to help cover extras like ice creams for children or hot drinks for parents and carers. It’s a great way to boost team spirit, support local families during the summer holidays, and be part of a memorable day by the sea.

National Play Day at Exhibition Park: Wednesday 5th August

Join us at Exhibition Park this summer and help bring National Play Day to life for local families. We’re inviting corporate volunteers—whether a full team or a few people from different businesses—to get involved in a relaxed, fun day outdoors.

You’ll help run simple activities like paper boat making and racing on the lake, plus games such as a scavenger hunt or rounders. Teams can support by bringing along basic materials, helping judge activities, and getting stuck in with families on the day.

We also welcome small contributions to help us provide food or treats like cupcakes or ice lollies. It’s a simple, hands-on way to support families and make a real difference this summer.

Plessey Woods Play Day: Wednesday 12th August

Join us for a fun outdoor trip to Plessey Woods, giving children the chance to explore, play, and learn in nature. We’re welcoming corporate volunteers—whether a full team or a few people from different businesses—to help bring the day to life.

You’ll support simple activities like wildlife spotting, forest scavenger hunts, and den or tipi building. Teams can get involved by helping run activities, bringing small prizes or stickers, and getting stuck in with the children.

We also welcome small contributions to help cover lunch or optional sweet treats for the day.
It’s a hands-on, rewarding way to support local children and help create a great summer experience outdoors.

Cowgate Family Fun Day: Wednesday 19th August

Be part of our Cowgate Family Day, a fun-filled afternoon bringing the local community together. We’re inviting CSR teams to join in and help create a great atmosphere for families.

Teams can run simple games like football shootouts or beanbag toss, bring along anything fun they already have, or even introduce their own activity ideas—new and creative suggestions are always welcome. You can also get involved by helping with stalls, popcorn, or crafts inside the hall.

We also welcome small contributions to help provide free treats for families, such as popcorn, ice lollies, or ice cream tubs. It’s a lively, feel-good day and a great way to give back to the community.
